Linking to Full Text Theses

In early 2008, Index to Theses is launching a feature that identifies and links to the full text availability of theses online (ETD). Where an ETD is not yet available the new Index to Theses feature also describes existing, alternative routes available for obtaining the full text of a thesis. Although thesis full text availability remains limited in the UK to date, initiatives like the EThOS project are encouraging UK universities to build and often host their own online collections. The new Index to Theses feature is the result of ongoing research and records will be regularly reviewed and updated throughout the subscription year, reflecting current ETD availability.

Academic Database Comparison Tool

collections-logo.gif

JISC Collections in partnership with DataSalon Ltd has launched a free online database comparison tool, that will help librarians make informed decisions about future subscriptions to online resources – the Academic Database Assessment Tool. As the information for this tool has been provided directly by the relevant content suppliers and publishers, librarians will have the opportunity to access the latest information on the resources they already subscribe to. Librarians can subscribe to the email altering service notifying them when suppliers update their listings.
