We had only had the Xreferplus system a couple of weeks before it changed its name, and re-launched as Credo. Credo is a collection of electronic reference books and documents, and looks to be very useful and easy to search. Regrettably, perhaps, the new name, unlike the old, does not hint at the reference resources that the system provides. For the time being, at least, we will keep live links to Credo and Xreferplus on the A-Z Databases page.

Another name change/re-launch is Mintel Oxygen (formerly jusy plain Mintel). The new service claims it will publish over 600 reports each year, providing “the most comprehensive range of market intelligence currently available”, and will be “a deliberate shift from the text-and-table-focused nature of market research which is all too readily available nowadays”.
Following its long selection process, the federated search group made a recommendation, recently, to the Senior Management Team, that we buy the 360 Search system from Serials Solutions. This was accepted, conditional upon various questions being answered, and satisfactory solutions being found to certain matters raised. Serials Solutions currently provides our A-Z Electronic Journals system, and the url resolver Article Linker (which will both become part of the eventual federated search system).
The Dawson e-book system, and its US partner E Book Library, have decided to go their separate ways. Dawson’s are creating their own platform, Dawsonera, which we understand will be operating at the end of July or the first week of August. Once it’s live, Dawson will be taking orders for e-books to appear on it. However, we haven’t seen the site yet, and Dawson can’t guarantee that our existing Dawson e-books (originally on the EBook Library platform) will be available on the new Dawsonera site – so please don’t order any Dawson e-books until we give further advice.
